Verizon iPhone Coming: Huge Shipment Anticipated

It seems inevitable now: We could be just weeks – or even days – away from finally, officially learning there’s a CDMA-compatible iPhone for the Verizon Wireless network.

Apple has ordered a spectacular 20-21 million iPhones from its Asia-based manufacturers, according to an article in Taiwan-based Digitimes. If that number is even close to accurate, it would represent a huge increase in iPhone shipments over 4Q 2010, up from 15.5 million units. And considering that the holidays are behind us, there’s really no reason to expect an increase other than a second U.S. carrier – and perhaps more worldwide – getting its hands on Apple’s darling.

Specifically, the site’s sources say Apple has ordered between 5 and 6 million CDMA-based iPhones to “be launched in North America and Asia Pacific in the first quarter."
