Craig Galbraith's Hot Topix

Wireless, Video, Cool Apps and Pearl Jam
I don’t think I’ve been this excited in the two-and-a-half years since I joined the telecom editorial team at Virgo Publishing – well, except for maybe that day I was hired, which guaranteed I wouldn’t have to sleep on the streets.
VON-xchange has become vision2mobile, a site that will really focus on the most rapidly evolving and changing aspects of tech and telecom: mobile/wireless, applications, video and next-generation content. It’s certainly an exciting time to be a geek, as my colleague Josh Long points out, but you certainly don’t have to be a geek to appreciate the revolution that this industry is witnessing. After all, I don’t consider myself a geek – or at least I fervently fought being labeled one in my youth – but one only has to look at the millions of smartphones and now tablet computers being sold to realize that perhaps this craziness crosses just about every societal label out there.
The title of this blog is not an homage to the ladies of The View. When V2M Editor-In-Chief Tara Seals recommended “Hot Topix" a few months ago, it seemed appropriate because it would give me the freedom to blog about anything in the industry that might seem worth a comment. While I’ll probably spend much of my time musing about the latest gadgets out there, this blog space won’t be limiting. My background in television news gives me fair knowledge about video and the ramifications it will continue to make in the mobile and online worlds, so expect to see my tackle that. I’m also interested in policy and politics, having covered those issues extensively as a reporter in a past life, so you can bet you’ll see those things pop up here on occasion.
But I want this blog to be interactive – I want to hear from you. As long as it has some remote connection to tech and telecom, I’ll talk about it. If I can even figure out a way to connect my beloved Washington Huskies – I have to be the biggest fan east of, well, the state of Washington – or Pearl Jam, the greatest rock band of all time, I’ll find a way to fit it in.
And hey, as long as you’re commenting, let me know the coolest apps out there for my iPad. It would be a lot easier for me to be on the cutting edge if you helped. Maybe the “geek" label isn’t so bad after all.
